Healing and change starts here
Individualized therapy just for you.
We become centered in many different ways through talking, stretching, meditation, and creativity. And it is our dedication to Self that motivates us to constantly seek out the sense of grounding and connection we need to go about our day in ways that help us to mitigate resistance and over stimulation. When we identify tools that impact us individually, we are better equipped to protect our peace, health and mental clarity in our day-to-day activities.
Engage with us, at A.H.A.W. Guidance for Life, as a way to explore these tools allows you to create a unique wellness plan that has the most impact on your needs and growth. By committing to exploring these areas you open yourself up to how your mind and body respond to the world around you, and listen to its request for healing and support.
Internal Family Systems (IFS)
Getting to know your Self
At the core of the IFS model is the concept of the Self, a transcendent and inherently compassionate aspect within each individual that serves as the leader or orchestrator of our internal system. The Self possesses qualities such as calm, clarity, creativity, courage, compassion, curiosity, connection, and confidence. In contrast, the various parts represent distinct emotions and characteristics that emerge as a result of life experiences and emotional responses.
These parts can be categorized into different roles, as protectors of our systems or parts that have been exiled to the depths of us along with the emotional burdens they carry. The protective parts of us work hard to prevent emotional pain, react impulsively or numb us from overwhelming feelings. On the other hand, the parts that carry the emotional burdens of past traumas and are often isolated and hidden away. In the process of IFS therapy, you can learn to unblend from these parts, creating a space for self-awareness and healing. This involves fostering a connective and compassionate relationship with each part, allowing for understanding and integration. As you develop a more balanced and harmonious relationship with your internal system, you can access more qualities of the Self, leading to greater overall well-being and personal growth.
Meditation and Mindfulness
Many times, we are caught in this rat race of “a ball in motion, stays in motion.” Our thoughts are going, going, going. This prevents us from settling into a quiet place with our bodies and minds. We can't hear ourselves with all that noise in the background.

Taking the time to walk with mindfulness allows us to be present and become more self-aware and spatially aware. You become more in tune to how your body is moving and how you visually and audibly respond to the environment around you. This practice decreases distress and brings a sense of grounding and wellbeing.
